Winter Gallery
The winter is an incredible, beautiful and peaceful time at the Ranch. Wildlife can be spotted easily and the skies display beautiful colors. We maintain the road all year long since we live here. Even if there is an accumulation of snow, we clear our lane to the county road, which is plowed often by county road crew. A four wheel drive or higher clearance, all wheel drive vehicle is required. Some front wheel drives with higher ground clearance do alright if the driver is skilled at winter driving. Special off - peak season discount applies June 1st through October 31st, with the exception of major holidays.
About our weather: Fishtail, Montana can have snow between October and May. Fishtail is in the south central part of the State and often gets the Chinook winds coming down out of the Beartooth Mountains therefore some Winter days can be dry with no snow on the ground and very warm for the season. These temperatures are quite different than the western Montana's cities which see hard winters. The Beartooth Pass usually closes mid September and reopens in late May or early June. Snowfall amounts are unpredictable, but always welcome as they bring moisture and winter sports and beauty abound. Click on the images below to make larger.
